With the Vespa over the burner, tent, air mattress and gas stove in your luggage - this is what camping looked like in the 60s. This image is a romantic memory at best. Even before the coronavirus crisis, Germans had rediscovered camping. But now in motorhomes instead of tents. The pandemic has fueled this trend once again. Vacations within your own four walls are considered safe and comfortable - with a motorhome, you can travel in comfort, explore the world and still keep your distance.
The Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) is not the only one talking about a boom - 78,055 motorhomes were registered in the first year of coronavirus in 2020 alone, an increase of 44.8 percent compared to the previous year. The CIVD is also forecasting a 12% increase in registration figures for 2021.
The ADAC camping experts are observing two trends on the market. Firstly, a younger target group is on the rise. Here, compact models are particularly popular with customers. "There is a particular demand for vehicles that are suitable for everyday use and still have everything on board for a self-sufficient camping vacation," says ADAC camping expert Martin ZöllnerA second fast-growing group is traveling in far greater comfort. Spending the night in a motorhome? But with as much comfort as possible! Glamping is the name of the trend towards glamorous camping, but another word may be even more appropriate: landyachting. This means that the motorhome glides over the asphalt like a yacht at sea. And stops wherever the driver pleases. The demands of motorhome travelers are increasing - and with them the range of ever larger and better equipped vehicles.
The company Concorde from Schlüsselfeld-Aschbach presents very special motorhomes. With the "Centurion" line, the company from Upper Franconia builds motorhomes of superlatives, almost like stylish travel villas. Even the smallest version, based on the IVECO Daily, has it all. Passengers reach the spacious saloon via four steps. Inside: fine woods, leather seats, ship floorboards and a large, fully equipped kitchen with a 190-liter refrigerator and oven. And the bathroom? Larger than in some rented apartments, with a rainforest shower, porcelain toilet, washbasin with mirror cabinet and a mineral towel radiator. In the larger models, which can weigh up to 26 tons, there is a built-in garage with space for a small car, so the owners are mobile even in tight cities.
"The elaborate decor not only has to be beautiful, but also robust and durable," explains Product Manager Bastian Gerlach.
And, of course, the elegant land yachts should also shine on the outside. In addition to the elaborate two-tone paintwork, the Centurions impress with elegant details and decorative elements from RATHGEBER. The experts from Oberhaching have made full use of the many possibilities offered by CHROMOTION®. "The elaborate decor doesn't just have to be beautiful," explains Product Manager Bastian Gerlach, "but also robust and durable."
And this has been achieved: The elongated silver spears and the lettering on the sides pierced by a slender line, as well as the Concorde diamond on the hood and the eye-catching diamond on the steering wheel cover, are all made from CHROMOTION®. The big advantage - in addition to the sublime, elegant appearance - is that the individual elements are easy to work with and hold almost bombproof thanks to the high-quality adhesive technology.
