New climate protection project | Forest protection in the Portel region of Brazil

09.06.2021

With the new climate protection project, we support the preservation of the rainforest and the "Ribeirinhos", the Amazonians, who are among the poorest in Brazil, in securing and using officially unused land.

ClimatePartner project forest protection in Portel, Brazil

In collaboration with the climate protection experts at ClimatePartner, we have recently started supporting a new climate protection project to protect rainforest areas in Amazonas in Brazil. At the same time, we are pleased to announce the successful completion of the previously funded project for efficient ovens in Uganda.

The goal of this new project is to preserve rainforest and to secure land rights to officially unused land for “Ribeirinhos”, inhabitants of the Amazon who are among the poorest people in all of Brazil, and to legalise the use of this land. We want to prevent these rainforest areas being occupied and logged. Forests are among the most important carbon sinks on our planet, are home to an enormous variety of species, and are the basis of life for all humans.

By funding certified climate protection projects by voluntarily purchasing official CO2 certificates from ClimatePartner, we compensate for unavoidable pollution emissions, which arise mainly in the manufacturing process of purchased materials.
