Antimicrobial protective coating eliminates viruses and bacteria on aluminium signs and decorative elements

Manufacturers whose products are frequently touched by hands can supplement hygienic precautionary measures by using signs and decorative elements made of aluminium that has been coated with an antimicrobial protective varnish.

This protective varnish eliminates viruses and bacteria by 99.9% (according to JIS Z 2801-2010, tested germ reduction value of >3 log levels). The composition of the protective varnish is based on silver ions and works due to a chemical reaction: all bacteria and viruses contain sulphur atoms, which are attacked by the nanosilver contained in the varnish.

Especially in hygiene-sensitive areas such as medicine, health or food (such as coffee machines) and services (ATMs), this measure can provide added reassurance.

Refinements of the aluminum signs and decorative elements, such as embossing, are possible as usual.
